Dear Sirs,
from the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals in Erdek we received the information that the animals in the Erdek shelter, which shouldn't really be called a shelter but rather an extermination camp, are neither fed nor properly watered. On top they don't receive adequate medical care.
We ask you to ensure that all the animals immediately receive the necessary food and water supply. As well the animals have to be treated medically and castrated. The stray road animals only have a chance to decline by well organised castration programs - not by cruel murder and letting them starve to death. The animals are neither stones nor wood but the same sentient beings as we all.
If it is necessary to euthanizing animals, you should guarantee them a gentle death: The animals should be euthanized by a veterinarian or trained, certified euthanasia technician, and the animal should first be sedated/tranquilized (when advisable) before being administered a lethal intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital.
We would be very grateful if you could give the necessary support to the members of the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. You can be sure of the fact that animal lovers, who experience these atrocities also in your city, will abstain of making their vacations in Turkey and will rise their voices against the admission of Turkey into the European Union.
